Driver arrested after hitting three
Saturday, January 17, 2009 By AMY SARA CLARK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
A Somerset County man was arrested on charges of assault by auto after crashing into three pedestrians in Downtown Jersey City Thursday afternoon, sending them to the hospital, police said.
Christopher R. LeFebvre, 38, of Green Brook, was issued four motor vehicle summonses, according to the report.
Police discovered that LeFebvre's driver's license had 19 points and had been revoked. Also, his windshield had a film of road salt over it, and his truck was not insured.
LeFebvre told police he turned his Dodge pickup truck onto Montgomery Street from Greene Street at about 12:40 Thursday afternoon, and heard a woman scream. He hit his brakes and skidded into the pedestrians, according to the report.
The victims were taken to Jersey City Medical Center. A 35-year-old Hoboken man and a 63-year-old East Brunswick man were treated for bruises and cuts, and a 54-year-old Jersey City man was treated for a broken arm, a broken nose and head trauma, according to the report.
