My father was a painting contractor, and he used to do work up there in the early eighties. i went in there as a kid, and it's beautiful. Didn't know it was still the Woman's Club.

It's a beautiful building -- the whole upstairs is a ballroom, there is a great custom stained glass window on the stair landing, they have the original furnishings, etc, but last I was there a few years ago, it needed serious work. The average age of the membership 5-10 years ago had to be in the 70s. They did bring in some younger blood finally a few years back, but I'm not sure how that went. I understand at least one of the new members I knew was kicked out for reasons unknown to me. At one point they could barely pay their heating bill, let along think about restoring the place. They rent out parking spaces in back which produces some income, but surely not a lot.

If they could afford to fix up the ballroom and install a real kitchen, it would make a very nice venue to rent out for small weddings and so forth.
