Three robberies in Jersey City
Saturday, August 02, 2008 By LYSA CHEN JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
Three Jersey City men were robbed at gunpoint in separate incidents early yesterday morning, police reports said.
In the first incident, a 59-year-old man was standing in front of his Orient Avenue home at 12:30 a.m. when he was approached by two teenage boys, one pointing a small black handgun, reports said.
The other thug went through the victim's pockets and removed $270 in cash and a pack of cigarettes before both fled east on Orient Avenue toward Ocean Avenue, reports said.
At 1:11 a.m., a 34-year-old man was approached on Van Nostrand Avenue by a Dodge Intrepid and a Honda Civic, reports said.
Two masked men stepped out of the Dodge Intrepid, pointed handguns at the victim and demanded money, reports said. The men stole a gold chain with a cross, a cell phone and a wallet containing a credit card and driver's license, reports said.
The two vehicles fled east on Van Nostrand Avenue toward Ocean Avenue, reports said.
At 3:10 a.m., a 29-year-old Jersey City man was approached on Fairmount Avenue by a masked man with a brown-handled handgun, reports said.
The man demanded the victim's valuables, struck the victim with the gun and took his wallet, which contained two credit cards and a driver's license, before fleeing north on Boland Street toward Montgomery Street, reports said.
