I have to disagree. The majority of my furniture and decorative pieces are from the late 20's early 30's and I didn't even have to have them refurbished. Clothes, hats, purses, and furs have survived, they do need to be treated well, but are generally VERY interesting and elegant when they are. Jewelry, even not made of gold and silver, are around and just need to be cleaned and any stones, etc. replaced. Back in the days when I had a slimmer figure I often wore dresses from the 30's and 40's.

good point - i have all these great pieces just sitting in my closet with only a couple of wears, maybe i should just try more often! the clothes from that period fit me so, so much better than anything i can buy at the store a good vintage store (but is a bit of a drive) is time after time in madison, nj.

i've seen mary's furniture first hand...beautiful pieces!

I'm no expert but as far as clothing they are likely more 70's & 80's or even newer. I think 1920's and 30's - if not in a museum somewhere will likely fall apart on you.
