A Jersey City man was blasted in the lower body with a shotgun Saturday night on Garfield Avenue, police said.
According to reports, the victim was walking north on Garfield with three women shortly before 11:30 p.m., after getting off the light rail at Richard Street, when six to eight men wearing ski masks approached them.
One of the men allegedly pulled out a black shotgun and shouted, "Empty out your pockets," before firing one shot, reports said. The men then fled south on Garfield without taking anything, police said.
The 21-year-old victim was conscious and stable as doctors at Jersey City Medical Center worked to remove shotgun pellets from his groin and upper thighs, reports said. An update on his condition was not available yesterday.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Police Department at (201) 547-5245; all calls will be kept confidential.
