Shelley has organized many parents throughout Jersey City to have an online discussion about the public school system. She has also been able to enlist the input of City Council members as well as Board of Education members. The Jersey City Families for Better Schools (JCFBS) group varies in their opinion about matters which is important in this discussion. Shelley also has managed to get professional assistance in evaluating the bigger picture of our school system. If you are a parent, its important to join and learn how you can make a difference.

Current show is an interview with Shelley Skinner, an advocate for parents in educational matters. Shelley is seeking accountability from Dr. Epps on the spending of school funds. She also is concerned about abatements in Jersey City that do not fund the local school system. Shelley has been meeting with school official in Trenton. Apparently, the school funding will be changed again. This might higher taxes in Jersey City. In the last two years, taxpayers have paid an addition $10.8 million. Presently, 25% of all properties receive tax abatements.

Speak NJ will air Monday @ 10:30 PM and Tuesdays @ 9:00 PM on Channel 51 . Also see segments of the show at www.speaknj.com
