Thank God. Get these low-lifers off off our streets! I was over near Wonder Bagel the other day, and you see these losers hanging out near Wayne St. selling drugs. It's a shame too. That area would really be nice once the thugs are locked up.

Surrender leaves just 1 man sought

The surrender of a Jersey City man in connection with an investigation into street gang activity leaves only one man still being sought in the probe that has now led to 22 arrests, officials said.

Rashawn McFadden, 19, of Pearsall Avenue, went to his lawyer's office on Thursday and surrendered that afternoon to officers of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, officials said. McFadden was wanted on numerous drug counts, including distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.

The investigation focusing on 52 Hoover Street Gangsta Crips activities in the Booker T. Washington housing complex led to the arrest of 14 adults and six juveniles between Oct. 1 and Oct. 8, officials said. After that wave of arrests by local, county, state and federal law enforcement officers, four wanted men remained at large.

Travis Booker, 19, of Fremont Street in the Booker T. Washington housing complex, was arrested on Oct. 16 when police stormed a residence on Bramhall and Pacific avenues, police said.

On Oct. 13 Adrell Bennett, 19, of Wade Street, was shot dead when more than one man forced their way into an apartment at Arlington and Myrtle avenues.

Jamal O'Neal, 24, of the Booker T. Washington complex is now the only person charged in the investigation who remains on the lam, officials said. O'Neal is wanted on numerous drug counts including distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school and within 500 feet of public property, officials said.

McFadden's bail was set at $50,000 cash or bond and he was transported to the Hudson County jail in Kearny, DeFazio said.

Anyone with information on O'Neal's whereabouts is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office's Gang Task Force at 201-915-1229.
