The day, she did NOT reject, Team Healy's endorsement, she compromised on everything that she stood for. Now, Team Healy rejected her!

dtj,
Whatever it is, I am sure it is way more than Sean Connors, who is now running for the Assembly.

If there is any doubt for any BOE member's higher aspiration, it should be this guy. He has run for almost every office and hasn't done a damn thing for our schools.

Ms. Mack has helped put the Special Ed dept on the map and is still influential.

As a parent, I appreciate her and wish her luck.

Jersey City BOE veteran announces bid for at-large City Council seat

Monday, July 11, 2011
By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal

Jersey City Board of Education member Sue Mack announced this weekend that she is running for one of two at-large City Council seats up for grabs in a November special election.

Jersey City Board of Education member Sue Mack announced on Facebook this weekend that she's running for an at-large City Council seat in November.

Mack said she has about 30 years of experience in government, plus "a lot of advocacy skills," to offer Jersey City voters.

Speaking by phone from Florida, where she is vacationing with her family, Mack said the council needs someone like her who has spent years dealing with the school district's budget.

"I think it would be really good to have somebody with that kind of experience on the council as we move forward with all the budgetary problems we have in the city right now," she said.

Mack, 60, is a professional planner, and a lifelong resident of Jersey City. In April, she won her sixth term on the school board.

This morning, former mayoral candidate Dan Levin announced his own bid for one of the two at-large council seats up for grabs in November's special election.

One seat was vacated in September 2010 when former councilman Mariano Vega resigned his seat the day he pleaded guilty to corruption charges. The other seat was held by former councilwoman Willie Flood until her February resignation.

Councilman Ray Velazquez was appointed last year to replace Vega, and Councilwoman Kalimah Ahmad was appointed in February to replace Flood. They have both signaled their intentions to run in November to remain on the council.
