Re: Jersey City BOE veteran announces bid for at-large City Council seat

dtj,
Whatever it is, I am sure it is way more than Sean Connors, who is now running for the Assembly.

If there is any doubt for any BOE member's higher aspiration, it should be this guy. He has run for almost every office and hasn't done a damn thing for our schools.

Ms. Mack has helped put the Special Ed dept on the map and is still influential.

As a parent, I appreciate her and wish her luck.

It seems as if there is a "scare" or bomb threat in he Journal Sq area every other week or so.
This is ridiculous and doesn't happen in any other area/ward.
Hmmm!!!

This bank was robbed because all of the police are too busy watching over holes being dug up in streets and roads paved.

You think the bad guys don't see this? My only question is how did they get aways with traffic almost at a stand still and those very same police directing traffic????

Personally, I am still looking for some sort of censure or reprimand from board members, including those who are running for re-election. The public should ask them how they feel on this issue, now, and during the next campaign debate.

Also, every candidate should chime in on this subject either on this venue or another.

I'd like to hear what they all have to say about this. I sincerely hope this just doesn't disappear as most things this idiot has done over the years.

We all know that parents should take blame for ther kid's actions and are at fault. Not much argument there.

But the bottom line is Epps and the Boe do not regulate or control homes. They do schools and a very poor job of it.

It is a joint effort but we pay this fool a kings ransom for horrendous results.

Stop the madness!

WTF!!!!!!
Please tell me that this is a bad joke. This little uneducated idiot does nothing for the school board and is now running for the Assembly?

When will this absurdity stop? This guy runs for every election there is and can't do anything.

The HCDO is corrupt and must be stopped!!! Vote against this bum when the time comes.

riaz,
Let's be perfectly clear. It was mentioned that dr. thompson was fetched and brought in to vote. Apparently, the budget would not have passed if she didnt vote.

Thompson said that Connors text her to "get here". No doubt this puppet did it for Epps.

Can't wait til the election. Too bad Connor's term isn't up.

So, let me get this straight. There are bed bugs at #16 school (as per the Jersey City Independent) , #22 school (as per the JJ) and how many other schools?

Where is the outrage at the lack of communication from Dr. Epps, his lackey subordinates and Board Members? Have the principals said anything?

There are obvious health implications in addition to serious financial ones if a child contracts bedbugs and brings them home.

Helloooooooooo, is anyone there?

This is inexcusable!

All of these promotions and increased salaries amidst 300 plus layoffs just a couple of months ago. Where did they get the money from?

Also, wasn't Johanna O'Neil, Epp's traveling "companion" on that London romp of a few years back. Guess she's finally getting paid for it.

Everyone, let's not wonder what will happen at the next meeting, let's all attend, speak and make it happen.

InEpps has paraded his supporters and political hack bedfellows at the last meeting so now it's time for the fed up folks to be heard.

The next meeting is on Aug 11 @ 6pm. The venue is once again 346 Claremont Ave, 6th fl conf rm. InEpps and the boe president is trying to deter people from attending by holding this meeting in such as small space.

See you there!

DanL,
The way I see it is this is a fight on two ends. On one end, benchmarks and goals do indeed need to be in place, whether Epp's will respect them or not. On the other front, the fight must go on despite recent events that seemingly give the spectre of defeat. Besides, you are dealing with an arrogant, condescending and cocky individual that doesn't and hasn't answered to anyone at the Board, ever, and most likely won't going forward. Everyone needs to know this, especially our board members. Don't be fooled by this wolf in lamb's clothing.

Like Yogi Berra once said "it ain't over til the fat lady sings".

I'm no conpiracy theorist, but it would be interesting to see what Epps has on each board member to constantly receive their undying support. I hear that the good doctor helped to get one board member's son into his ex wife's school. It has been common knowledge that he made a contibution to a past member's campaign. Angel Valentin flipped and i hear he got something for it. DeRosa and he, i hear, are very good friends along with the teacher's union president. Heck, Jerry McCann said something like this himself at a board mtg.
Something has to be amissed, probably with the majority.

T-Bird,
I could not have said it better. It is not time to move on. JC citizens must still let InEpps and those BOE members, in favor of an extension, know that we are not in agreement. The citizens have to lobby Schundler and the governor even harder.

Benchmarks and goals are indeed important but Dr. Epps has no respect for anyone, BOE members, the kids or the citizens of JC. This is why the fight must go on.

Let's hope when they vote on Aug 11th, some minds are changed and there are more votes against the contracts with no abstentions.

alanwright,
As an african american and parent not in your ZIP, I assure you, I and many many others like me are outraged with the failure of our school system. Some of us are less vocal and some don't have forums such as these but we too want to see change at the top on down. No race card playing here, too much at stake. I applaud those board members who voted against Dr. Epp's contract. Any other stance is irresponsible, disrespectful and unacceptable considering what i hear are the plain and simple facts that 35 out of 40 are failing and our HS graduation rate (less McNair) is hovering around 50% whether NCLB is fair or not. Hopefully, at the end of the day, a national search is done but rest assure african americans do indeed want to see brighter days ahead which does not necessarily include Dr Inepp (had to steal that from you. classic)

What's unfortunate is that Sean Connors is not up for re-election next year. He doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing now that Jerry is off the board. Hell, he has never seen a political office he didn't want to run for. Everyone knows he thinks this is one more step for him to be mayor (what a joke).

How convenient that he was unable to be reached

Heck, the schools have long been unable to reach passing status.

What I wonder about is, what do those who support the superintendent have to worry about, regarding a search, if this man is so great??

Allow a search and let the chips fall where they may.

Has the good Dr. spoken up yet?
