I guess the city doesn't want the public to be aware he was shot in a carjacking.

A 52-year-old man was shot on Jersey City's West Side late Saturday night, officials said.

The victim suffered an injury to his shoulder that is not considered life-threatening, city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

Police were called to Duncan Avenue near Lincoln Park at about 11:45 p.m. Officers found the victim with a single gunshot wound and he was brought to the hospital for treatment, she said.

No arrests were reported in connection with the shooting.

I suspect this was not about the car.

Police in Jersey City are on the search for a suspect wanted for a violent carjacking that left the victim suffering a gunshot wound at a location overnight in Jersey City.

It happened just before 11:45 p.m. in the 20's block of Condict Street where police received multiple 911 call reporting shots fired in the area.

According to preliminary reports, the suspects approached the victim who was attempting to get into a vehicle when the suspect approached and demanded the car.

Police say, during the course of the incident, the suspect opened fire on the victim, before speeding off in the vehicle.

Police are looking for a blue 4-door 1999 Buick Century that was taken by the suspect according to police.

Authorities say the victim was transported to Jersey City Medical center where doctors began treatment.

The shooting remains under investigation.
