The hostile relationship between Fulop and the JCPOBA became public in June when the mayor called for the termination of police officers involved in a high-speed pursuit that ended when officers kicked a man who turned out to be an innocent crash victim, an episode caught on video by a witness. Cops pick the most inappropriate hills to die on. That was the most irresponsible policework ever, and everyone involved should be fired. I can't believe they are defending cops that got involved in a high speed chase, were shooting guns out of their cars during the chase, and then beat up an innocent man on fire.

Cop protest escalates feud between Jersey City police union, mayor JERSEY CITY -- The long simmering feud between Mayor Steve Fulop and the largest of the city's two police unions boiled over tonight as 100 cops appeared at City Hall to accuse Fulop of putting politics over good policing and paint Public Safety Director James Shea as an "absentee" leader. The protest comes as the city and the Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association spar over a new contract for the union's roughly 700 members. The administration has asked a state arbitrator to resolve the dispute, an action the union's president said tonight is evidence the city "had no desire to bargain in good faith." http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... ice_union_slam_mayor.html
