JERSEY CITY -- More than three years after his arrest, a 31-year-old man was found guilty this afternoon of murdering two men and hacking off their heads and hands.

Rejecting Yusuf Ibrahim's claim that he acted in self-defense, jurors in his trial found that him shooting the two men on Feb. 5, 2013 after an argument inside one of the victim's Mercedes Benz constituted murder.

JERSEY CITY - The state says a man charged in a double murder drove victims around Jersey City in the trunk to scare them, but when he let them out, they had revenge in their eyes so he shot them and buried them at his grandmother's home in Atlantic County.

Yusuf Ibrahim, 31, of Jersey City, was arrested Feb. 10, 2013, in Bayonne and charged with shooting Hanny F. Tawadros, 25, and Amgad A. Konds, 27, in the chests during an argument inside a Mercedes Benz belonging to Konds in Jersey City five days earlier.

JERSEY CITY - Today's plea cutoff hearing came and went with the state making no offer at all in the case of a man charged with killing two men in a car in Jersey City, cutting off their hands and heads, and burying the remains in Atlantic County in 2013.

At today's hearing, a trial date of May 24 was set for Yusuf Ibrahim, of Jersey City. He was arrested Feb. 10, 2013, in Bayonne and charged with shooting Hanny F. Tawadros, 25, and Amgad A. Konds, 27, in the chests during an argument inside a Mercedes Benz in Jersey City on Feb. 5, 2013.

Two days later, detectives searching the area near Ibrahim's grandmother's home in Buena Vista Township found the victims buried in shallow graves and their heads and hands buried nearby.

I have noticed this hasn't made the news much:

http://www.christianpost.com/news/egy ... red-beheaded-in-nj-90424/

In a crime that New Jersey authorities have described as heinous, a local man is believed to have shot to death two Coptic Christians before severing their heads and hands and burying their bodies in the backyard of a relative's abandoned home.

"These were grisly murders in which the defendant allegedly shot both victims in the chest at close range," said Attorney General Chiesa in a press release. "We allege that the defendant was ruthless and calculating in the manner in which he carried out the killings and attempted to prevent identification of the victims by cutting off their heads and hands before burying their bodies. The New Jersey State Police has conducted a thorough investigation, which will enable us to secure justice for the victims."

JERSEY CITY (WABC) ? There?s a gruesome double murder mystery in New Jersey.Police say who did it?s not a mystery because someone is under arrest but the mystery is why the accused killer cut of two men?s heads and hands.

The victims are reportedly from Jersey City, but their remains were found buried in a town southwest of Philadelphia.

On the streets of Jersey City along Bergen Avenue, to the naked eye it?s not obvious.

But to members of the close knit Coptic Orthodox church the pain is real.

?It?s a shock, something like this doesn?t happen to people like that,? a resident said.

Now they know two members of the church have been brutally murdered.

But no one in this community seems to know why.

?It was crazy what happened to these two. Do they deserve it? No. Was it expected? Never. And it?s just sad,? a resident said.

The two victims were found buried in a back yard in Buena Vista, New Jersey last Thursday.

The State Police and Attorney General?s Office today charged a Jersey City man for allegedly shooting two other men from the city late last week, cutting off their heads and hands and burying them in the backyard of a rural home in Atlantic County.
Yusuf Ibrahim, 27, was arrested yesterday in Bayonne, four days after investigators searched a wooded area in Buena Vista Township and found a shallow grave containing two bodies and the body parts, State Police said at a news conference in Hamilton.

Lt. Col. Matthew Wilson, the deputy superintendent of investigations for the State Police, called the murders a ?pretty horrific crime? and commended troopers who worked throughout the weekend, and during a snow storm, to piece together clues and find a suspect.

Ibrahim allegedly shot the two men, ages 25 and 27, in the chest during a dispute inside a parked car in Jersey City sometime in the past week, State Police said. Troopers then received a tip Feb. 7 of suspicious activity at Harding Highway in Buena Vista Township.

Investigators said the three men were ?acquaintances,? but declined to detail the nature of the dispute. The two men killed were foreign nationals, State Police said, and their identities were being withheld because of the difficulty notifying family members.

Detectives searched the area around the home and cadaver dogs located recently disturbed dirt about 20 yards into the woods, State Police said. The severed bodies were found in the shallow grave, investigators said, and their body parts were found nearby.

During the investigation, troopers learned Ibrahim had driven the car in which he shot the men to Philadelphia and attempted to set it on fire Feb. 6 but was seen by Philadelphia police. Ibrahim fled in another vehicle and was not caught, but police seized the car.

Ibrahim was charged today with two counts of murder and two counts of desecration of human remains. He is lodged in Atlantic City jail on $3 million bail. A lawyer for Ibrahim could not immediately be reached for comment.

Ibrahim was wanted in connection with an armed robbery last year, Wilson said. Investigators are still unsure of the motive and declined to release more specifics, including Ibrahim?s connection to the home where the bodies were found.
