Voting should require your identification. It is idiotic not to.

Maybe you looked like you were going to vote Republican? Seriously though, they weren't asking at GVV this morning that I noticed, but I can tell you from history, it would make things a lot quicker if they did ask for ID, the poll workers seem to have trouble with the alphabet even when you spell your last name for them.

no ID request at GVV Church.
I'm going to hope that they were asking just to get your name right and help them look it up. But still, inappropriate and it was good to report it.

Maybe they have trouble spelling names and figured it was easier to ask for ID. So long as it wasn't a condition they had set on you voting. Still, not something they should get into the habit of. I don't think I've ever been asked for ID by anyone, despite having a somewhat confusing name.

I did report it.
They asked for my ID to look me up in the book. She asked the person in front of me too.

What were the circumstances? When you went to the table did they ask you for it as they looked up your name in the book? Or was it when you signed the book? I was in a hurry once and really botched up my signature it looked nothing like the one in the book. They asked me to show ID and compared the signature they also made me write my signature again. I passed?my bad.

I was asked for my drivers license when I voted this morning. Luckily, I had it with me. Even though it's illegal to request ID, play it safe and make sure to have it on you when you vote. My polling station is in Ward E, but who knows what is happening elsewhere.
