Also check with patient services at the hospital where you will have surgery. A social worker at Beth Israel set up a visiting nurse for me after my surgery, and she handled getting it approved/covered by my insurance.
Hope you're not laid up for too long.

Thanks for the tip. I called and they are ready and willing to help. It's scary though... only $22/hour for basic help. How much could the helper get out of that?
Anyway, hopefully I'm just being paranoid and looking for a problem that isn't there. Was the help qualified and reliable?

I'm having surgery and will need temporary help perhaps for a few days, for perhaps 2 hours a day. Any recommendations? Thanks.
