The real scandal wasn't mentioned in the article. An unnamed HIGH LEVEL source (the same source that Yvonne frequently cites) told me Fulop tried to suspend the red light cameras for Democrats only, so Republicans and others would still get ticketed!

Chico? Who's this Chico you mention?

Damn Fulop! What an inconvenience to motorists - shutting off red light cameras for a day!

How is turning off red light cameras interfering with traffic safety? Red light cameras don't do jack for traffic safety, and have actually been shown to increase accidents due to people slamming on brakes to avoid getting tickets. Red light cameras are all about revenue from tickets, and nothing else. Plus the state has ordered municipalities to shut all red light cameras down as of November last year.

He asked for the cameras to be turned off during his inauguration because the traffic backups caused by having Grove St closed would lead to people getting needless tickets.

Truly he is history's greatest monster.

ATS spokeswoman Kate Coulson said contracts between ATS and their clients often stipulate that the client can ask for the cameras to be suspended temporarily.
What an abuse of power!
