I'm 99 percent sure your place gets painted every so years according to local laws. I remember going through this with my landlord a few years ago

I've been in my apartment 5 years and it could use a repainting as a result of normal use. Are there any requirements or rules about landlord responsibilities covering this subject? They get the benefit of raising my rent (my lease expired after the first year and was never renewed). I don't know if any of that is relevant.
