That's true as well.

Back to the liquor license/distance to school/church. I know NYC has the 200ft rule.

There are laws that prevent a liquor license from moving farther than a certain distance away from its current location, as well as prevent bar/restaurant licenses from moving within a certain distance from another bar/restaurant. I forget what the distances are. This is why restaurant row is such a big deal, because it removes both of these restrictions, and allows bar/restaurants immediately next to each other, and for licenses to relocate from anywhere within the city.

And yes, you need to be 250 feet from a school or church. The distance is measured from the main entrance of each building, along the street. This distance might be sufficient for GP's, or they got a variance by getting approval from the neighborhood association.

That's a great question to be honest. I believe you need to be ~250ft from a school (that # could be very wrong).

I'm not sure how Silverman got the variance for that

Believe it or not but bars are finally opening in other parts of the city finally, and liquor licences are not funneling the way dtjc like they once did from Greenville or other places, and LL are not cheap.

What would be wrong with a vegan restaurant? I only care as long as they serve decent food. I don't think you can reject a restaurant proposal based on the it's proposed format.

HH won't really matter due to their proximity to the school. They can't legally have a liquor license. I'm not sure what the code is regarding BYOB though.

Vegan food would be antithetical to it having decent food.

That's a bit far fetched. Even if they did present that, there would be nothing stop them from changing their plan. I think pretty much anything would be better in that space than what it is currently. It's not like McDonald's is going to take over the space.

I was only being half serious. But I'm still half serious and want to make sure it isn't vegan or something. I agree that we should blockade any attempt by the dreaded golden arches to invade.

Also, we should clarify their plans for happy hour and brunch...

Yep, that's the one. I vaguely recalled reading this once upon a time - should have just added to that original thread. Perhaps the webmaster may see fit to merge the two...

There will be a meeting of the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association tomorrow night at 7.30pm (Jan 8) at Cordero Elementary to discuss a prospective new restaurant to occupy the derelict townhouse on the southeast corner of Erie St & Pavonia Ave.

It's a beautiful building that has had its windows and doors boarded up for the longest time. Something of an eyesore currently, so would be great to see it turned into a new dining option. No word as yet on the cuisine proposed.

Will try to make it along to the meeting. In the meantime, plans below:

New Restaurant, Corner of Erie Street & Pavonia
