Is this thread dead? I'm currently looking to join a casual pickup game or find an open gym. Haven't played ball in a while and want to get back into it.

Update: Saw Rooney last week in his car. He still has some health concerns but is BACK running the DHS "league" 6-9 weekdays in the main building.

He did say that the gym could be reserved for $27 an hour if i were interested in starting one myself. I dont mind doing this a couple of times a week if more people are interested.

$27 is a bargain for an entire gym and a number of guys splitting the cost. I'm interested and have a few other guys in town who would be. Keep me posted.

Any information as to Rooney's condition would be appreciated by myself and many others who have run the floor at Dickerson in the wake of Mike's cigar smoke.

$27 an hour is a great rate. I'd definitely be interested in some pick up ball. Let me know if you can round up a few guys. How is the court btw?

Update: I've heard that Mike might be hospitalized. I will find out if the league is being run in his absence.

DHS is walk-in, main building 6-9pm. Rooney is not affiliated with the school but with BoE or JC Rec. He has had some health issues but pretty sure its ongoing.

Have not tried any of the open gyms listed below, but am curious to. When does Grace Church do it? Every weeknight or only certain nights? Same with Dickinson?
Dickinson is every weekday.

The armory on Montgomery St may have open basketball at times. Might be worth looking into, if it's not too far up the hill for you.

I play at Bayside during the warmer months and I use to play At Grace church during the winter season, however they have been scaling back on the adult games due to so many kids now in the area, they have been focusing on children sports. I would give them a buzz. I play indoor bb up here now.

Mike Rooney runs an informal league inside Dickinson HS(main bldg) from 6 to 9pm weekdays. You can bring a team or just come and he will work you in.

Grace Church at 39 Erie Street seems to have indoor pick-up leagues. I know nothing about how they're organized though. Call them up.
