Thanks again for all the suggestions, we now have culinary courses in Spanish and Arabic officially in the works for the Spring/Summer.

I'll be sure to post the details to this thread in the spring when the details are finalized!

Great idea! I took Spanish classes at HCCC a few years ago, and would love to practice. Any where prices are listed for the classes?

Be that as it may, the fact remains that most people who claim to be fluent in other languages fail to understand how woefully poor their grasp/mastery is of that language. Very few people who grew up in the States, actually master proper Spanish, even those who are direct descendants of first generation immigrants. At best, they are able to speak conversational Spanish but often with poor grammar, syntax and/or spelling when it comes to the written form. At worst, they speak a mix of Spanish and English that is no different than sharp nails dragged across a board.

The only local chef that I can think of that may fit the bill is Eddie Cotto, from M.E. Casa. He truly masters Spanish, possesses a congenial personality, and is great in the kitchen.

Hello, JC List!

Here at Hudson County Community College we have had requests for offering recreational culinary and baking classes taught in Spanish. Finding a chef who not only has excellent teaching skills and is fluent hasn't been easy so I'm hoping the fine folks here at JCList may have suggestions!

Our Community Education classes can be one-offs or a series and typically happen Fri-Sun. We are currently planning our Spring-Summer semesters and will likely start with just a couple of classes. Are you or do you know someone who fits the bill?

I'm thinking these classes will be great for primarily Spanish speaking folk as well as those learning Spanish who want an language experience in practice.

And, if you are interested in taking culinary or baking a class in Spanish (or another language!), let me know and I will keep you posted.
