Highly recommend checking out Dogvacay.com - it is a service that allows you to connect directly with folks who are willing to board your dog in the area (they usually have dogs themselves so know how to deal with other peoples dogs). You can read reviews and see prices of your options and the service provides emergency services / insurance. Think of it like Airbnb except for dog sitting instead of home rental.
I have used Ryan Z several times to watch my dog and couldn't be happier.

It's very important that your dog not experience unnecessary added stress right now. Since you must leave her make sure she is able to stay in her own home. Do not board her at this stage. Oh sorry I forgot to mention that the reason for the care is that she just had an operation. So she is recovering and is otherwise a healthy, lively dog. Thanks

We are going out of town for a family emergency and need a reference for a dog sitter who can provide specialized care.
We need someone who can stay with out dog or take her in. This person will need to remember to give her medication. She is also wearing a cone over her head to keep from scratching. So she needs assistance when eating and drinking. Maybe a vet tech that also watches dogs, a house / dog sitter who is overly attentive ? Thanks in advance for any contacts. We leave tomorrow or Thursday so if you know someone please let me know right away.
