I'm just wondering if this is because female pigs (sow) that have piglets are known to accidentally kill a few when they move when the piglets are suckling.

I recall as a kid that farmers would always lose a few, even when they gave the sow heaps of room.

Support new Jersey s998.

The New Jersey State Assembly followed the lead of the Senate and approved a major animal protection bill. S.998 would ban the pork industry?s cruel practice of locking female pigs in cages so small they can?t even turn around.

TAKE ACTION
Now pigs need you to call the governor and encourage him to sign the bill into law. Please call Gov. Christie at 609-292-6000. All you have to do is mention your name and address (to show you?re a constituent) and politely say, ?As a New Jersey voter, I?m calling to encourage Gov. Christie to sign S.998, the bill to protect pigs. Thank you.?

After you call, please send a personalized letter to Gov. Christie using the form below.
