No, but they have moved thousands of jobs to Utah to avoid higher taxes and cost of living, and the correspondingly high salaries.

Companies like Goldman will maintain their NY / NJ footprints, because that's how they recruit and maintain their high-producing talent (I-Bankers pulling in $1.2MM / year ain't moving to Utah). But making it unsustainable to keep the $60M / year back-office jobs is a meaningful problem for this part of the country.

Yeah, the state has lots of unfunded liability, but the Green Acres program is one of the few NJ initiatives that has produced real, verifiable, long-term results in the form of preserved open space. I'm not buying the argument that this increase to the business tax will keep a lot of companies from investing here. Our proximity to NY and Philly will always make NJ attractive...Goldman Sachs isn't going to flee to Arkansas anytime soon.

Your response here makes it sound like voting "yes" on #2 is a vote to raise taxes on businesses, but I don't believe that's true.

My understanding is that the amendment is about allocating taxes already collected, and the increase is only 2%

"The Constitution now dedicates four percent of the money collected from the Corporation Business Tax to help pay for some environmental programs. This amendment raises the amount from four percent to six percent beginning on July 1, 2019. It also changes the amounts allocated to some of the programs funded by the existing dedication beginning on July 1, 2015.

Definite 'no' on question #2:

1. about 1/3 of the state is already 'preserved', which includes 200k+ acres of farmland. This is not exactly a crisis.

2. It 'hardwires' the funding into the state constitution, making it difficult to damn near impossible to shift funding elsewhere. The state has an insolvent pension system and has over 35 billion in long term debt. Money IS going to be needed to be shifted elsewhere soon.

3. Our business taxes are already too high, which makes this state hostile to economic growth. You can pretty much put a manufacturing plant or an office anywhere. Might as well put it where you get treated best.

With that said.. it will probably pass anyway.
