When people were defending the rights of homeless people to menace the populace and get in their face, I said the area around the tunnel was bad for this. They beg on the approach from the extension and 1/9. They beg in parking lots at Burger King, Buy Rite and the gas stations.

If there a place that ordinance would have real teeth, it's the tunnel. People's first intro to JC should be a change filled cup.

Doesn't PAPD's jurisdiction cover like 20 miles around lower Manhattan? If so, its well inside their jurisdiction.

Does the Port Authority bill back JC for providing police service in cases like this that aren't Port Authority locations?

Homeless woman attacks bank teller in Jersey City, police
By Melissa Bilecky | The Jersey Journal
on August 08, 2014 at 11:29 AM, updated August 08, 2014 at 11:38 AM

Port Authority Police arrested a homeless woman at a Jersey City Bank yesterday morning after she allegedly leaned across a counter and assaulted a bank teller after demanding a debit card, authorities said.

Syreena Lacewell, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, trespassing and disorderly conduct, said Joe Pentangelo, senior public information officer for the Port Authority Police Department.

A witness said the woman came into the TD Bank, located on 18th Street, and began to yell and scream at the man, Pentangelo said.

From across the bank teller counter, she leaned over and attacked him, striking his head causing bruising and lacerations, and also threatening him, said Pentangelo.

"She became aggressive and began yelling and screaming at employees," Pentangelo said. "She then vaulted the counter and attacked a male employee."

Port Authority police who were patrolling the area responded at approximately 11:30 a.m.. When they went to arrest the women, she tried to pull away and struggled with the officers, according to Penangelo.

Lacewell is being held on $100,000 bail in Hudson County and is forbidden to have contact with any TD Bank or its employees, Pentangelo added.

The bank employee was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated for bruises to face, a laceration to head and has since been released, according to Pentangelo.
