Think you nailed why Fulop won't touch the reval in his first term as mayor, if ever. It's going to upset too many people. Kudos to Zimmer though.

It will cost "taxpayers" as whole nothing more than what was spent, but it will cost plenty to the many people paying 3x or more the ~1% effective rate that the lucky few Downtowners like Yvonne's former neighbors are. Yvonne sold paying ~1%, my Heights purchase around the same time pays ~3.3%. I might be shooting myself in the foot harping on this, as my Downtown property is worth more than my Heights property, but the social injustice of the poorer wards subsidizing low Downtown taxes is just disgusting. Dawn Zimmer has no further political aspirations, and can run Hoboken in a responsible businesslike way rather than worrying what outsiders will say.

Just so I can get a percentage of what your biased posts are worth, on a scale of 1-10 how much do you hate Fulop?

Less than a year after it completed its first property revaluation in 25 years, Hoboken is about to embark on a ?rolling reassessment? program. Every year, 25 percent of properties will be inspected, and at least 50 percent of the properties in town must statutorily have their values revised based on values and trends.
http://hudsonreporter.com/view/full_s ... ment--?instance=more_page The article say Fulop is defending the cancelling of the reval, I wonder what that will cost taxpayers.

I have filed a challenge to the reval I got for a place I bought in Hoboken December of last year. They assessed me at more than 10% over what I paid. My assessed value went from 190000 to 787500. My lawyer is confident we will prevail but it will be a while before it gets to court. The city just sent a 3rd party to do an inspection last week. Even the inspector thought their valuation was out of whack. I'm guessing plenty of people won't go to the trouble of filing the challenge so the city wins in that case.

My friend who owned a home in Hoboken but sold last year finally responded. His home, a row house was went from $262,600 to $878,500. The taxes pre-reval was $13,000 and after $12,000.

This was last thing I saw on it (January '14) and maybe an angry letter to the NJ.com. This one has a fun calculator.

According to the county, Hoboken revaluation started this year. I have not seen any letters to the editor on unfair assessment. Has anyone heard anything?
