This is a primary, and at least on my ballot, there was only a single contested position, which was Republican Senate candidate. Every other Republican/Democrat position was uncontested.

In much of downtown (if Maldonado is your freeholder) and a Democrat, you have nothing but uncontested races. Good to vote and all, but I wouldn't change your evening plans to rush home before 8 just to push a half dozen buttons for people running unopposed.

And if I get one more robo-call from the candidate I intended to vote for...I may change my mind!

There's a candidate who sent me 3 mailings till they got his name and slot correct. That doesn't give me confidence to vote for him. And he is heavily endorsed.

Primary Elections Today - Jersey Journal

Get out there and vote, Hudson County! Polls are open until 8 p.m. today for a host of races, including one for U.S. senator. Sen. Cory Booker, the incumbent, is unopposed on the Democratic side, while four Republicans are battling to face him in November: Jeff Bell, Brian Goldberg, Richard Pezzullo and Murray Sabrin.

There are also races in Hudson County for the 8th, 9th and 10th congressional district seats and for all nine Hudson County freeholder seats. Usually nine sleepy races, this year's freeholder campaign is dramatic, with two freeholders bowing out of the race and four incumbents running off the official party line after being dropped in favor of other candidates.

And of course, there are municipal primaries, too. Get more information:
