I tried Uber and totally love it. Local fares within JC are generally only $6. They come right to you and the cars are nice. I usually use "UberX", the lowest level. Fares to the city are generally on about $35!

King(201-798-8100) is the biggest fleet, and they share a dispatcher with some of the other squads. I have, however, been told that, "we don't have anyone in that area," several times from different locations. I think there is a pet ambulance. Check with your vet.

Seagull: Not too personally familiar w/ Uber, but if it requires an account or a smartphone app, it's probably not what I'm looking for.

User1111: Thanks for the rec. I'll look into it. Really just need a regular cab rather than a limo, but if they can arrive quickly downtown and are reasonable I'd give them a shot.

I was going to say, have you tried Uber yet, but I wasn't sure if you meant a car service that can be reached by calling on a landline phone.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good taxi service that can be ordered by phone for trips within Jersey City?

Most importantly, I'm looking for a service that is reliable and will arrive relatively quickly without having a prior appointment. (Essentially, I'm looking for a car service which could get someone to a vet quickly if a small pet has a medical emergency).
