I don't get the idea why school need to be closed / delayed open whenever there is snow, even only 1-3" or the day after snow day. I've been living in Canada for 8 years but never had a school day off due to snow except for very severe ice storm.

If my child is in public school, then fine as it's free. But we're paying high tuition in private school, every school day is money.

It's not about the kids, it's about the teachers who don't want to drive in from their suburban homes.

How much snow it takes to cancel school, by county http://i.imgur.com/CiuVwRq.png

From NJ.com

Jersey City public schools will have a delayed opening tomorrow in anticipation of a winter storm predicted for tonight.

Students are to report to school at 10 a.m. and there will be a normal dismissal time, school officials said on the district website. There will be no morning STARS or breakfast.

Other Hudson County school districts Bayonne, Weehawken, Union City, North Bergen, Hoboken, plan to open with a normal schedule as of this afternoon. But that could change by tomorrow morning, officials for the schools said.

In Bayonne, Mayor Mark Smith's normal Tuesday evening office hours have been suspended tonight due to the expected storm, which is expected to bring up to 10 inches across apart of northern New Jersey.
