Thanks for all the input. I didn't get a ticket yesterday but I guess I was just lucky. I will get some of those temporary permits again. I had a bunch but they expired. :(

I was sort of waiting to see what Fulop did with the Parking Authority. Hopefully they will be able to take cash and sell you more than 3 at a time. Oh, and wouldn't it be nice if the Parking Authority actually had parking for people going to buy parking permits? [snicker] As I remember it, parking over there is a pain in the neck.

They do have parking in the metered lot next door too bad most of the metered spots are taken by the parking authority though. The north side of the lot is reserved for the post office vehicles.

Get a temporary parking permit. Not worth the grief over the holiday season and trust me, you'll get ticketed. It sucks to get one in person and the last time I did it - they don't take cash. Over this season when the regular union workers are on vacation you're going to get eager beaver part timers picking up the ticketing pace.

Where is First and Columbus? They don't intersect.

I was at the parking authority the other week and saw that the day permit cost increased to $5.

you are taking a pretty big risk without a permit... yes there is always some one who gets away with it (just like parking at the corners) but there is always someone who gets booted and comes on here to cry

I would go get a stack of the $3 temp passes to keep on hand just in case of stuff like this... in my book spending $3 always beats spending $140 (or whatever it is for the ticket/boot combo)

+1. Never take the chance.

You are lucky, I know someone who was booted when he returned to JC to attend a relative's funeral.

After my second Jersey City car accident within 14 months, my car is in the shop again. So I have a rental car with no parking permit. It's snowing today and there's no street cleaning. Do I still need to worry about getting a ticket or, worse, a boot because I'm exceeding the 2-hour limit for non-permit holders? I'm in Harsimus Cove and parked on a side street.

You can get a 30 day temporary parking permit from the parking authority, though I believe you have to pay the $15. Worth it.
