Where is this Italian Village Section? What street?

It is going to be built. I saw some guys out in the parking lot discussing the plans and a truck emptying the old doctor offices near McLaughlin funeral home.

@ JC Progress -Are you planning to move into the new residences? Is that why you can't wait?

The first phase only calls for one tower @ 54 stories. Can't wait for this project to get underway.

Sometimes it seems like there's no place for middle income residents in all of NJ. Still, you can find spots and I would say that the Heights is probably the area that is the best bet for middle income.

You can also find some decent rents in the Italian Village section downtown.

Also, this place is actually going to get built? I just assumed it was another in a long line of proposed projects for JSQ that would never get built.

No, this is 3 towers. One tower will be 50' high, another 60' and the other 70'. It will be a total of about 1,840 units - something like that. The developer is KRE.

This is supposed to be the tallest building in JC. It's called J2 (Journal Squared).

You might be thinking of the one by the fountain that has been an empty lot for years. That's a different developer.

This isn't the 2 towers project at the Square is it?

The Journal Squared project at Journal Square from Pavonia Ave to Summit Avenue is about to begin.

I have mixed feelings: At one end, I enjoy some of the nice newer developments in the JC area. Because of them, I get to enjoy nearby restaurants, shops, parks, and just a nicer area than the current JSQ area, which is still clustered and dingy. At the other end, some nicer residential towers that are currently up and running demand rents that I, honestly, cannot afford.

This brings me to the residents about to be displaced. Where are middle income tenants like that suppose to go if they cannot afford to live in a nice building? They are being pushed out so others can enjoy the proximity to the trains leaving the current residents to find something (near transportation) with rent that is $2600+/a month or they would have to move out of JC.

Maybe it's just me but I feel there is no middle ground. It's either a place you can't afford in the luxury towers or a residence that is worse than where one currently is.

With that said, is there a place for middle income residents in JC that's decent?
