Seems that no one actually heard gunshots after all. I guess the sound is mistakable @OP

I'm near Newark and Jersey and it sounded like it was right outside my window, but I thought it was a motorcycle. It's wasn't popping so much as revving...unless I heard something else, but it was about that time and I was jolted awake.

I heard this as well from a block west of Hamilton Park. From here it sounded like it came from the south, towards Newark avenue. It really sounded more like fireworks because of how well synchronized the "shots" were.

I live near City Hall, and was in bed when I heard the noise. If my bionic ears were functioning properly, I'd say the shots were coming from north of where I am, say off of Newark Ave somewhere, perhaps. But no, I have no proof of that. I just recall from a timing perspective that, when Jordan's Lounge had that shooting last year, it was around the same time (close to closing time), and when I heard that gunfire, it sounded about the same distance and occurred around the same time. But I am NOT saying that is the source of the gunfire (before someone accuses me of starting rumors). I do think, however, that it was gunfire.

Whereabouts?

I heard nothing but rumors, about Village Liquors on Grover getting robbed at gunpoint earlier in the week and a carjacking there last evening, also by someone with a gun, masked even. Heard the cops got him after an accident on the Skyway.

Warmer weather in Jersey City always means more crime. Stay safe my friends.

Did anyone else hear, somewhere downtown, the unmistakable sound of about five gun shots fired?
