Stopped of this morning for a coffee and croissant. The croissant was buttery and flaky, and the best one I've had in the US in ages. If I picked this one up in Paris, i would not be disappointed. The coffee could be a bit stronger, but still fine.

This is going to be an AMAZING addition to JC. Whenever I have a morning meeting in Hoboken, I stop into the Choc-O-Pain on 1st St there. The bakery does incredible pasteries (sweet and savory), coffee/tea, breads, sandwiches, quiches, croque monsieurs and soups, all made with fresh ingredients. They also do fun things like king cake for Fat Tuesday. It 's not inexpensive but it's not overpriced IMHO. Another important thing: the French woman who owns it really knows how to run a business. There is always a line of customers, but it moves very quickly due to the well trained and very friendly staff she has in place. Bienvenue a JC Choc-O-Pain y Bon Chance!

Very cool, looking forward to this. Does anybody know if they are focused on breads and such, or more sweet stuff? (Or both).
By the way Erstrecs, Two Aprons in Paulus Hook makes fantastic homemade croissants.

Their signage looks a lot like Patisserie Paul, a French upscale bakery chain that has started opening in the US.
I'm hoping that their products are of a similar quality too.

someone posted here the other day that they heard that Hoboken bakery Choc O Pain was moving into the Made With Love space on Jersey Ave. just above Christopher Columbus. so I asked on their FB page, and they confirmed that they would be opening this Friday:
I've never been to the Hoboken one, but the Yelp reviews look great, and downtown could really use a place for croissants, etc. my wife and I are very excited, just letting people here know. Choc O Pain 530 Jersey Avenue Jersey City, NJ 07302 201 435 2462 http://www.chocopainbakery.com
