If you are paying out of pocket, you will be quite surprised how much you can save if you call around a bit. The best price I received was out in Newark at the MRI facility affiliated with University Hospital. The highest out of pocket was at Hackensack (and I love Hackensack Hospital).

Remember, it's the person reading/interpreting your MRI that's important. Besides the tech providing a report from the MRI facility, that should ultimately be your treating doctor in the area of your medical concern.

And make sure your doc is very specific on your prescription with your MRI - (with contrast/without contrast/what areas to MRI (you'd be surprised)/what the doc is very specifically looking for or looking to rule out). Inform yourself AND advocate for yourself (or the person you are caring for) at the MRI site. The more information you can provide at the time of the MRI, the better. I speak from, unfortunately, way too many MRI experiences.
