Thanks for this link always good to hear fellow Jerseyite Uncle Floyd's take on the N.J. political scene. Plus this site is a good reservoir of news for New Jerseyans.

There is much less corruption on the Federal level in part because Members of Congress must not be employed by anyone but Congress. Its a full time job in the sense that they can't have any other payroll income and other incomes such as book royalties are reported. But they also get paid a lot more. New Jersey's legislative members are not paid a full time salary, and the legislature isn't their only job.

I was amazed at how unethical Codey admited to being in his memoir "Me, Governor?" Its a great read. I dont think he even realized how messed up a lot of what he was saying was/is...

It made me really disgusted by politics and politicians. I've come to realize though that what is more important to my actual life (I think) and my family's life is that a politician votes the way I would like them to, not their personality (or we wouldnt have anyone running our governments). Then again, I really hate corruption...

I tend to like Buono due to her stance on the issues. But Codey is pretty good too and would likely be a more formidable candidate.

And meanwhile Christie is buddy buddy with Brian Stack, the other "grandfathered" double dipper in office.

If the choice is between re-electing complacent Democrats or electing conservatives like Christie, I'll take my chances with complacency.

Codey is tops for the job he instituted absentee ballots for anyone any reason. Back when Corzine was running for governor Codey also wanted to be a candidate buy the Democratic party told him not to run, if he did Codey would have won easily. William Codey is New Jersey through and through, he's been around the block and knows the game.

Healy was just doing his due diligence to the state level Democratic party.

Everyone is lining up behind Buono because she has a tough (impossible, some might say) race against Christie. By receiving the backing of many of the big Democratic counties now, Buono becomes the clear candidate without a messy primary fight and the Democratic party can focus on getting her elected (raising money) rather than fighting out a primary and rebuilding over the summer.

She was nobody's first choice to go up against Christie, but probably everyone's second choice; once the other first choice candidates indicated they weren't running, getting in line behind Buono was the only sensible thing to do for the sake the party.

So really Healy's endorsement has nothing to do with convincing you, the voter, that Buono is the candidate, and everything to do with saying: Hudson county concedes she is the best choice and we don't want to deal with a primary this year.

I don't want him to prove a point. I want him to endorse Senator Buono because she would be a good governor of NJ and better for Jersey City in particular.

Fulop does not need to endorse anyone to prove a point.

Buono is an oustanding State Senator. I do not need Healy's endorsement to know she would be a good Governor.

I hope Fulop soon follows suit. The last thing we need is a Christiecrat like Brian Stack.

You just know when Healy endorses some-one, that its going to be the totally wrong person for the job

Jersey City mayor endorses Buono's bid for governor

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
on January 28, 2013 at 4:36 PM

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy today endorsed state Sen. Barbara Buono in her bid to unseat Gov. Chris Christie in this year?s gubernatorial race.

Buono is ?my kind of Democrat,? said Healy, who is facing his own challenge in May?s mayoral race.

?She is at the forefront in the battle to curb gun violence and has been an outspoken critic of those who would stand in the way of legislation to increase gun control,? he said in a statement from his campaign. ?I proudly endorse her today in her campaign to become governor and look forward to her winning in November and getting New Jersey back on the right track.?

Buono announced earlier today that she has received the endorsement of Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. and Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., as well as Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Mark Smith, the Bayonne mayor.
