Here are two alternatives:
1) take train from Penn Station to Seacaucus and then take train from there to Hoboken and then take light rail 2) take the gypsy vans from gate 51 at Port authority to Journal Square and then take taxi to your JC destination.

From JC, it's easier to use a car service, and judging from the other poster's $62, cheaper. Usually 40-50 when I've done it.
Also, NYC cabs are legally prohibited from having passengers heading back into the city. The fine is really nasty and the TLC monitors the tunnels more than any other choke point.

Anyone know what the prices are for cabs coming out of the cab stand at Grove to go into Manhattan?
Should that be a meter fare or a negotiated fare? Anyone have any luck flagging down NYC Yellow cabs headed back to the city?
