this is an idiotic post. owning a home isn't everyone's dream. I'm a lifelong renter and an ideal neighbor. meanwhile, the guy who owns the building 2 doors down from me keeps it looking like a sh*thole.

Yeah in a perfect world I guess or wishful thinking on my part. I know of a small condo building where the only tenant of the place was parking on the sidewalk for about a month then it suddenly stopped. Now the neighborhood has to put up with loud music from their car. They just don't get it.

Eliminating renting altogether???
Pure comedy.

They should live there only if they work nearby. But if they don't, then that prime space is being wasted. Instead market rate housing can bring tax dollars and clients for local restaurants.

How about eliminating renting altogether ? By having a community with only owners it will create an atmosphere of accountability, responsibility, and an awareness for liability. We could transfer the renters to another part of the city or even the county. This area is becoming more like a third world anyway.

Jersey city should eliminate all low income housing. Market rates for everyone but seniors.
Pricing out the scum is the only way to keep this city clean. Low income housing should be a market force. Let them move to Newark if they want a cheap place to live.

Do you mean "low" income housing ? If so they are renting and not owners. I wonder if there is a solution to rid the block of these trouble makers.

Haven't there been longstanding issues at the playground on Wayne? Can anyone who's been in the area for a while attest to if it's better or worse than it used to be? I seem to remember reading on here that there were efforts to clean up that block but it sure doesn't seem like its working. I walk down Wayne to/from the PATH train every day and, as JCBoyz mentioned, the part of that block closest to Jersey is a disgrace. Trash strewn everywhere, loud music, people sitting around drinking all day. Looks like someone also decided to tag Thirty Acres' window with etching fluid last week and I can't help but think the a-holes who hang out by the playground all day had something to do with it.

POLICE BEAT: Girlfriend's face slashed outside Journal Square PATH Station
Published: Thursday, July 19, 2012, 3:00 AM By The Jersey Journal A Brooklyn man slashed his girlfriend?s face Tuesday night outside the Journal Square PATH Station after she refused to go to the beach with him, Port Authority police said. Police said Johnny Nunez, 29, dragged the 24-year-old Jersey City woman by the hair down a flight of stairs and threatened to kill her before slashing her with a razor at 6:40 p.m. Nunez is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, possession of a weapon and eluding arrest, police said. A police spokeswoman said that cops were told the victim agreed to meet with Nunez at the Journal Square transportation hub in Jersey City, but Nunez became angry when the woman decided she didn?t want to go to the beach with him. Police said Nunez fled after slashing the woman?s face, but was caught by Officers Angel Lopez and Pedro Morales in the backyard of a home on Magnolia Avenue in Jersey City. -- JOURNAL STAFF ** Video shows gunman firing A private security camera captured images of a man opening fire with a semiautomatic handgun in Downtown Jersey City late Tuesday and three young men running from the gunfire were unhurt, officials said. Officers responding to a call of shots being fired at midnight at Wayne and Barrow streets found the 19-year-old and two 21-year-olds running away, a report said. The men said someone had begun firing in their direction and police found five spent 9mm shell casings in front of 82 Wayne St., and then found video showing the shooter firing, a report said. Police also recovered a silver, toy handgun nearby and placed it into evidence, a report said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL. -- JOURNAL STAFF ** Little information on park attack A Jersey City man was with his father when he was knocked out and lost several teeth in Triangle Park yesterday, but both men said they didn?t know who did it or exactly where it happened, officials said. Officers went to the home of the 35-year-old Cator Avenue victim at 2:31 a.m. and found him in a daze and only able to say ?They hit me in the face with something,? a police report said. Asked if he knew who hit him, he said ?Nah. But they knocked my teeth out,? a report said. After he was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center the victim?s father said they were in the park at about 12:30 a.m. and his son was out of his sight when he heard a ?thump? and then found him unconscious, a report said. Neither man could say what was used to hit the victim, nor could they give a precise location for the assault or provide information on the attackers, a report said. The men went home and the victim?s mother told him to sit down for a while but called 911 two hours later because he still ?wasn?t acting right,? a report said. -- MICHAELANGELO CONTE JJ piece?. http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index ... t_girlfriends_face_s.html *** **** Buy the JJ?.beat it, beat it..
