They must have been let into the building as I live on the 2nd fl. The door had been pried open. I did not have the bolt lock on which in retrospect was my mistake. I'm a bit more optimistic today as JCPD called and asked me about an item I hadn't even realized was stolen. Maybe they've found something/someone.

Sorry to hear that your apartment was burglarized. How did they get into you home?

I came home today to find my apartment (8th st. b/t Monmouth & Coles) had been burglarized. The thief made off with a 42" tv, PS3, laptop, etc. Apparently this happened in broad daylight while I was at work. I found JCPD to be very responsive but I doubt I'll see any of my things again. I just moved into the neighborhood, what a welcome!

When a tenant of mine got her door jimmied and was robbed of a similar amount in jewelery, the cops refused to bother taking fingerprints. It was just business as usual in JC.

Lincoln Park has pretty homes but there is a lot of crime. Last summer, I attended at St. Al's, when I noticed all the cars there had their windows busted. These cars were parked in front of the church.

David Donnelly, Jersey City?s Ward B City Councilman, had his home burglarized earlier this month, with the unknown burglar breaking into the house by pushing an air conditioner through a dining room window, according to a police report.
Donnelly, 42, lives on Gautier Avenue, a three-block street on the city?s west side that overlooks Lincoln Park.
According to the police report, a resident of the house ? police have redacted names from the document ? reported a laptop, an iPod, three wristwatches valued at $600, a Kindle e-reader, $1,000 in gift cards and a change jar containing approximately $400 missing after the June 8 burglary.
Jersey City police initially resisted releasing the document, saying they feared any news about the councilman?s house being burglarized would encourage a second burglary.
They soon relented, though, releasing a redacted document that is missing most identifying information about the house and its residents.
According to the police report, a male resident of the house returned home on Friday, June 8 after 6 p.m. and could not locate his laptop. He called his wife to ask if she had moved it, and she reported that she had not, the report states.
That?s when the male resident ?started to notice that other various items were moved,? and he then noticed that the air conditioner that had been in his dining room window was on the floor, according to the report.
Police soon arrived on the scene, and discovered possible fingerprints on the air conditioner, in the dining room and on the glass door leading to Donnelly?s back yard.
Donnelly, a former aide to Mayor Jerramiah Healy, was appointed to the council in 2009, and then won election to the seat in November 2010. He is set to run with Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop's ticket when Fulop runs for mayor next year.JJ
