We have gotten many kittens and cats adopted since the fall using Grace Church as an adoption center and we are very appreciative to those who have adopted their new companion from us.

Adoptions today and "every Sunday" at Grace Church 12:30 - 4:30pm.

Come on by and adopt a cat. You can also stock up for your winter reading and take advantage of the super low cost of $.50 a book at the Grace Church weekly book sale.

A CAT IN EVERY HOME CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES

Weekly Community Cat Adoptions Planned at Jersey City?s Grace Church Commencing January 8, 2012 12:30 ? 4:30PM

(Jersey City, NJ) January 1, 2012 ? Hudson County animal welfare organizations Companion Animal Trust (CAT) and Hudson County Animal League (HCAL) are partnering in 2012 to find homes for homeless community cats through the launch of ?A CAT IN EVERY HOME? campaign.

The organizations will host weekly Sunday public adoption events starting, January 8, 2012, 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Parish Hall of Grace Church, located at 39 Erie Street in Downtown Jersey City at the corner of Second Street.

?We want to make it easy, friendly and convenient for the community to adopt a cat so we are bringing the kitties to the community and Grace Church is ideally located for this purpose,? said Carol McNichol, Companion Animal Trust President.

CAT and HCAL are no-kill foster care organizations dedicated to saving and placing homeless animals. All cats and kittens are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Adoption fees do apply.

For further information call 201-884-9649 or email cat@companionanimaltrust.com.

Great to see all the cat lovers coming forward!

I'd like to add that cats are more interactive than a lot of people give them credit for -- sometimes you just have to meet them halfway. Ever since I taught my husband to talk gently to our slightly shy female cat who used to run away from him, she's now in the habit of snoozing on his lap while we watch TV.

Adopting my cat was the best thing I ever did. Marrying my husband was the second best thing. ;)

We adopted our two cats (at 9 weeks old) through Liberty Humane's foster care program and had a fantastic experience. I had only 1 cat for years and now that we have 2 I would never go back to just 1..they are so easy to take care of and have each other when we're not home. My husband is also allergic and he adores them, he just got used to dealing with it.
Please adopt a cat...they bring so much love into your home and you're saving a life too which is an amazing feeling :)

Well, we'd like to see 2 or 3 cats in every home but we won't be too greedy with just one.

Thank you for the wonderful endorsements! The benefits of pet ownership are numerous in addition to being good for your health. They lower your blood pressure and who could not use help with that in these trying times!

Adopting a cat is one of the best things you can do. A lot of people think they can't have cats because they work a lot or travel sometimes etc. Cats are pretty easy to deal with day to day. The litter box gets changed once a week with daily scoopings. A cat-sitter, if you leave town, will charge about $10 a day to pop in and feed them, scoop the poop etc. A cat is great company and not nearly as needy as some dogs. They usually just want to hang out and sleep. I thought I was deathly allergic to cats but found I was more allergic to dust and pollen and was probably blaming cats mistakenly. Two cats are even better! Saving a cat will be one of the most rewarding things you could ever do.

Awwww. I got up from the couch where I was cuddled underneath my three cats and read the posts. Underneath our seemingly crusty carapaces lurks the soft underbelly and the even creamier interior. Keep on lovin' those cats!

Best wishes for a felinely divine 2012.

We just adopted a second cat a few weeks ago and they really are great companions. I'm also deathly allergic to cats and if you keep your place clean and don't let them scratch or bite (most won't unless you're playing rough with them) allergies are generally not bad and you will adapt :)
