These awards are simply laughable. Nice little plaques to go on the wall that signify no real accomplishment in Jersey City.

Look at the state of the City's streets and tell me what a great Engineering Division the City has.

Jersey City wins three awards at Atlantic City municipal conference

Tuesday, November 22, 2011, 5:33 PM
By The Jersey Journal

Jersey City on three awards presented at last week?s New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City, including one for Engineer of the Year for city Engineer Chuck Lee.

The engineering award was given by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers, which noted Lee?s ?outstanding contributions to the profession of municipal engineering . . . that are transforming the state?s second largest city.?

The city also won a Collaboration Award from Sustainable Jersey, a certification program that rewards municipalities that ?go green.? Jersey City nabbed the award for partnering with several entities to address ?food system issues,? according to a city official.

?The residents of Jersey City should be proud of their leaders in municipal government who are continually striving to make Jersey City a greater place to live, work and raise a family,? said Mayor Jerramiah Healy. ?It is even greater when those municipal leaders are recognized amongst their peers as some of the best at what they do. To this year?s award winners ? Keep up the good work!?

The Center for Government Studies at Rutgers awarded Jersey City Best Print Media for its entry, for a packet of information that included the booklet city officials put together explaining the 2011 municipal budget.

Last year, the City of Jersey City received the Best Municipal Public Information award from Rutgers for its print, website and social media outreach.
