A while back someone on this forum posted a link to a city website in which you can report community problems - kind of like a 311 for Jersey City. I've searched and I can't find the post.

Does anyone have the link? Many thanks!

I have lived in JC for 8 years and actually just used this request service for the first time last weekend, due to someone dumping heavy trash in the alley next to my house. First thing Monday I received a note from JC saying that the trash men would be sent to collect the items, and sure enough when I got home from work, they were gone!

I was pleasantly surprised :)

I've twice had success:

Once by requesting garbage from a local business be cleaned up after being strewn across my street, sidewalks, neighboring yards etc.

Second by having garbage removed from a vacant lot.

Both time were almost handled the same day. If possible, attach pictures.

I was incredibly pleased and very surprised.

Good job JC!

I used this site as well for a missing street sign and it was replaced within two weeks so good job done! No sitting on the phone forever done and done!

I used this link for a tree limb that was hanging after the hurricane with no luck. My request was closed 2x stating that the work was completed.

I finally asked a police officer what to do and he advised me to call the Division of Parks and Forestry. The limb was promptly removed the same day that I called.

I've had some successes with this and other times not so much.

I requested a pile of junk to be removed that the neighbor had left on the sidewalk for several weeks. That same day - they removed it. Bravo.

But I also requested the tree to be trimmed in front of my house as its branches are laying directly on top of several power cables/poles - creating a safety hazard for the whole street.

Also requested a "no littering" sign on the street.

The latter two seems to have had no luck yet (after several months), but I'd like to at least record/request safety or environment related things for the record.

This link has been posted numerous times, but maybe some are still unaware, based on the amount of complaining that goes on here.

http://mycusthelp.com/JERSEYCITYNJ/_cs/RequestSelect.aspx

Jersey City Service Request. It works, I think.

Can we post our success stories here -- maybe some positive news -- rather than all the other shit that's listed here?

1.) Several months ago, requested the repainting of pedestrian crosswalks down Grove St. It probably would have been done either way, but I'd like to think my submission helped get the lines redone this past week.

2.) Removed an unused and outdated reserved handicap spot on my street that either sat empty or was used by neighbors to unload groceries. Now the spot is free for all to use.

What else?
