We took our son to Music For Aardvarks before he could even sit up straight. Good stimulation for him...and for us. Highly recommended.

Classes are held in the Hamilton Square building on 9th Street next to Hamilton Park.

throwing cheerios at the brownstone diner for the host/manager to clean up is always a good time for babies too.

Thanks JPhurst & megan2681, I'll look into these! I've heard about the JC mom's meetup but not really what I'm looking for. I want activities that other familiy members/caregivers can partake in as well, not just mom's.

There are lots of things! A Sound Start has music classes and I think baby yoga (at least they used to), The little gym, yoga shunya has mommy and baby classes (these are for mom, unlike Sound Start which is for baby), but the life saver for me at that age was JC Mom's Meetup which has a ton of scheduled play dates/tummy time for kids from 0-6 years.

This would be a good time for them to learn how to post on JCList.

Music Together has a bunch of classes in downtown Jersey City. They are starting in the next couple of days. Our daughter liked the program. The mixed age class was fine, and mostly had kids from infant age to 2 years old.

One good thing about Gymboree is that if you sign the kid up for a class, you can also go to their "open gym" sessions throughout the week. They set aside at least 2 hours each day (except Saturday) for the open sessions. It can replace park time when the weather is bad.

Other than Gymboree on Newark ave, are there any other places that have organized activities (classes, story time, puppet shows, etc.) for babies (3-12 months)? It's going to get cold soon and frequent trips to the park will be limited so looking for some indoor activities. Thanks!
