@landshark. Actually, it was inaccurate for me to say it's "OK". I think it's very good school but public schools have better funding and resources in general. My child gets very bored with the aftercare and he needed some tutoring and unlike public schools we had to seek alternative solutions outside of the school. But I would definitely recommend the school.

@Annod. Yes I have seen that and was wondering what the deal was. I'm meeting with the principal next week. I will have a better idea then. Thanks.

That's true. kids that are in ps 16 for preK get priority. I think there are only 30 slots for Kindergarten but I might be wrong about that. If you don't get into ps 16 you'll most likely be bussed to ps 3. You also missed the lottery for the charter schools. Good luck!

Your child may not get in, even though you live one block away. Go there in the morning and you will see many children taking the bus there to somewhere else for school.

contact the school and visit. like a few other JC schools it uses "looping", staying with teachers for multiple grades and there is an active PTA/PTO.

You can look at some of the stats using No Child Left Behind.

PS 16 is one of just a handful of schools in Jersey City to meet annual yearly progress requirements:
http://www.state.nj.us/education/titl ... lity/ayp/1011/madeayp.xls

It also appears to have good test scores:
http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc10/ ... lt=C;st=E&datasection=all

I don't have children there, so I'd be interested to see if these positive metrics are indicative of parents' experiences with this school.

I don't have any information on No. 16 but am interested to hear your opinion on OLC. That is where we are planning on sending our daughter in a couple years.

Hello, wanted to get some information about Cornelia F. Bradford No. 16 Elementary School. We currently have our son at OLC and it's OK but aren't overly thrilled with it.

We live down the block from No. 16 and wanted to know if anyone has experience or information about the school that they would like to share.

Thanks
