WFMU accepts car donations.

http://www.wfmu.org/Help/donate.html

CAR DONATION

Donate your broke-down jalopy to WFMU! We are now accepting donations of used vehicles from any state in the U.S. and in any state of disrepair. It.s a great way to help your favorite freeform radio station, get a tax write-off, and most importantly, get that junker off your front lawn. Call The Center for Car Donations at 1-877-411-3662 to arrange for vehicle pick-up (it's free). The Center will sell your vehicle and pass on 80% of the proceeds as a donation to WFMU. It helps WFMU out immensely, and you get a nice tax deduction.

I am interested in donation my car to a charity, organization, etc. I understand that, that a lot of charities simple resell the donated car to a middle man for a few hundred dollars and that is how they actually get their money. I know im better off selling the car myself and giving them the money directly but i don't have the time or knowledge on how to do that. Has anyone ever donated a car before? Anyone know of any LOCAL organizations that accept donated cars? the car is a 1991 Mercedes 300E with 226,000 miles. It does run but has a good chance of stalling out ever once in a while when it comes to a complete stop (ie:stop sign or red light). Once it goes over 5mph it runs VERY smoothly and has no other major issues (that i know of anyway). Any suggestions?
