I shudder to think of the complications of needing a temporary fire escape in place while the old one is ripped out and the new deck/escape built. Hope you have a good buildings dept lawyer!

As per another thread Anthony & Sons
or...Willow Iron Works. I have used the later for a small project and he knows what procedures would need to be taken. I too would like to do this project, on a brownstone.
Please let us know how you make out.

I live in an 8 unit building in Hamilton Park and the unit owners have all been discussing the possibility of turnin our fire escape into a multilevel deck.

We see that there are some buildings nearby that have exactly what we want -- about 24 x 8 deck at each level with a separate staircase.

Anyone know where we would begin? Does anyone know someone who could give us an estimate? Any isight into city permits for this?

Thanks.
