A 12-year-old Hoboken boy carrying a baseball bat and a straight razor was arrested by Jersey City police Sunday night after a man was knocked out during an attack by a group of a people with a silver baseball bat, officials said.

The Marshall Drive resident was arrested at 7:55 p.m. near Palisade Avenue and South Street, the area of the attack, and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, reports said.

The 12-year-old was not charged with the assault.

Officers responding to the area, where the victim was lying unconscious on the sidewalk, found the boy walking on South Street with a silver baseball bat in his hand. He was with another 12-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, reports said.

The 12-year-old told police he picked up the bat in case he got jumped, but a search turned up the razor too, reports said.

The two 12-year-olds were taken to Christ Hospital where the victim was being treated. But doctors there said the victim, who was not identified in reports, could not make an identification due to his injuries.
