You are correct.

And when Newark uses that east-west approach, usually when its very windy as you said, the planes tend to be very low.

We also get a higher, northerly heading of planes going to LaGuardia over the VVP area.

I'm actually surprised no one has ever brought this up based on the "spur of the moment" hysteria that sometimes grips some of the people around here.

The flights into Newark almost always land from the south and take-off to the north. Every once in awhile, if it gets very windy, the flights will approach from the east thus taking them over Jersey City. The day of the Air Force One flyover I thought that it was a re-routed flight as I saw it flying west over Hamilton Park, albeit very low.

I tend to think that I am hearing constant airplanes now flying over my house versus not so much before. Has anyone else paid attention to the constant airplane noise? I live in the downtown / Paulus Hook area.
