They started working on Bright and Varick early this afternoon. I am hoping it doesn't go all night, but if it means getting our water back on quicker I welcome the night time noise.

I suspect it wasn't an emergency simply because the street had been painted out (utility markings) for a few days leading up to this. But, maybe that was a different problem and then this popped up....

I think there may have been some kind of emergency...I was walking down Jersey at around 1:30 and saw tons of water gushing out of the ground around 2nd st. They were probably working on that.

How do you know it wasn't an emergency?

United water was excavating Jersey Ave (between 2nd and 4th, if not more) ALL NIGHT last night. Sawing into the pavement, etc. is NOT a nighttime activiity except in the case of emergency - apparently nobody told them this? Why did they not alert residents to that we could make alternate arrenementes if desired (sleep at someone elses' house....).

Was anyone else cursing them out?
