Beefed up patrols in Jersey City's Greenville section due to a rash of recent shootings nabbed an alleged drug dealer Sunday, reports said.

Officers patrolling the area of Old Bergen Road and Bartholdi Avenue around 3 p.m. Sunday spotted a drug sale taking place, reports said.

Police began to search the suspected drug dealer, later identified as Deidric Huggins, 19, of Liggins Lane in Jersey City, reports said.

Huggins told police he was carrying a gun and cops removed a 9mm handgun, reports said. A follow-up search turned up three vials of white powder, suspected of being cocaine, reports said.

Police arrested Huggins on three drug charges and weapons charges, reports said.

On March 30, a man was shot at the corner of Winfield and Ocean avenues. And two men were shot at a deli at Neptune and Ocean avenues days before that.
