I purchased a lovely 1950's kitchen table over the weekend. What a great find. The owner Betty is a delight. I feel it 's the kind of place you have to pop in once in a while and snoop around. It's one of those "you never know" kind of places. The price of my table was unheard of.
I would not refer to it as a "junk" store though. Just my 2 cents on that. Good luck

Old timers around here all call this area of Downtown "The Village" -- short for the Italian Village.
On Brunswick, it seems to stretch all the way from the White Star to Columbus Blvd -- and on Newark, it seems to stretch from Coles to bottom of the hill. But like everything else in JC, it all depends on who you are talking to. I'll let one of the "old timers" place the boundaries on it. Quote:

Yes the Village and not Manhattan. The Village in DT J.C. is located on Brunswick near Ferris High School. This was a large Italian section with some remnants still left. Just like the Hamilton Park section is known as the Horse Shoe District which had a large Irish population, each area had a name of it's own.

Great new vintage/junk store opened Downtown on Brunswick in the Village - it's called Boomerang. It's not too far from the existing junk store & weekend flea market at Newark & Third Street if you are looking for an outing.
It joins Madame Claude's, Cafe Nia, Abbey's Hookah Bar, Pecoraro's Bakery, Mary Benson Gallery, Residue Gallery, Iris Records, Nine Lives Skate Shop, Nha Trang Restaurant, Second Street Bakery, The Lamp Post, Carmine's Pizza Factory and loads of other great stuff in this part of Downtown!
