I was being sarchastic about the poster....the cultural affairs office never seems to do anything to promote the stuff they set up, you just kinda have to stumble upon it. They played up in the heights last weekend and we only found out about it because the director of con vivo reached out to our neighborhood association, friday night, looking for an indoor venue in case it rained. Just a little effort on their part and these events could be so well attended, there is a thriving art culture here, they just have to reach out to it.

Thanks for all of your replies and info. This is very helpful. I would be interested in chatting in person with any of you if you are interested. I"m not sure if there is a way to exchange info more privately than on the forum. I have not seen a listing or poster for the Con Vivo group. I will check them out though.

Just a heads up, there is a classical concert in Hamilton Park this weekend.

http://www.convivojerseycity.org/discography.html

I am sure you have all seen the posters our wonderful city has put up to promote this event......

From their website, it looks like thei concert is at 2pm. consists of music for guitar and strings.

I might be up for it... I'm a classical violist (or was in a previous life) and have been wanting to get back into playing a bit. Sheet music required.

Mark.

Check in with Hudson County Music. They have a county-wide intergenerational concert band and offer a good network for all genres.

I'm interested in getting some new music going in jc. I'm a singer and would be interested in any various combinations of instruments. With new music of course there are many pieces written for odd combos. I would definitely be interested in pianists and string quartets but anyone who has the interest in and chops for new music would be great - including guitar. Thanks.

Where are you classical musicians? I'm looking for you in downtown JC - especially those with new music chops.
