Info on the results of this meeting HERE. Basically there wil be a viable, reliable alternative to the 99S/10 in the Heights.

Bus meeting tonight in Jersey City

by Journal staff
Tuesday February 12, 2008, 10:18 AM

The Riverview Neighborhood Association is holding a meeting tonight about the community's loss of a direct bus ride to New York City after the 99S was rerouted away from Palisade Avenue last fall.

Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, Council members Steve Lipski and Bill Gaughan, and others are expected to attend, organizers said.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., at the Harbor View Health Center, 178 Ogden Ave.

the nj transit bus #125 runs along jfk blvd to journal square and charges $2.55. Why then does red and tan charge $4 along with $5 between midnight and 6am for a shorter trip?

When I lived in the Heights I rarely took the 99s into Manhattan because it was so inconsistent and rare, mostly I grabbed a passing mojica.

I'd always take the 99s home in the evening from Port Authority, though. I'll never forget: there was a brittle, 50ish woman who cut the line EVERY SINGLE F'N DAY. She'd simply push her way to the door while the other working stiffs hissed or sighed resignedly.

Every time I get pissed when someone gets aggressive about being the first on the PATH train every morning and then stands in the friggin' doorway instead of moving to the middle of the car, I think of her and count my blessings.

From past fare increases they let you still use the tickets without adding the difference. I can't speak of what they will do this time since this bus is never consistent.

This bus company wonders why they don't have enough people. Every time I am on the bus it is full.
Pricing the fare to $4 make me think people will take other transportation options. Sure if the bus is running on time for me it is a 15 minute trip. Although, now I can take the 87 bus to Hoboken and then a PATH train and even a NY Subway all in the same trip for about the same price as a 15 minute bus ride.

I just called and they said that the fare raise was posted by the dispatcher in Journal Square and port authority!! But no bus signs!!

Im so grateful that you put it out there that the fare is increasing!! Im so upset! I moving back in Jersey City and closer to the path. This is ridiculous! I cant afford $13 a day to commute to my job.

Something must be done!!

The fare is increasing to $4 for a trip across the Hudson River. I think it is the same for JC and Bayonne. The increase happens on february 18
